Watercolours News

News and updates relating to Lorne Park Watercolours specifically.

Watercolours is one of the safest communities in Mississauga, in part, because of our strong sense of community involvement, awareness of safety issues and information sharing tools. To that end, we are sharing the following information, in an effort to make our neighbourhood safer:

We were informed of a number of break-ins, the details of which we hope you find useful.

Recently there were 2 home break-ins, one involving access from a second floor window and the other taking place during the ice storm with access from the garage door.  Thankfully no-one was home at the time.  We were also informed of car break-ins.

These incidents bring to light the importance of locking your car door, setting your home alarm and also letting your neighbours know if you will be away.

The burglars have been know to monitor resident patterns prior to break-ins. If you notice occupied vehicles parked along our streets for extended periods of time, please notify the police immediately.  If you can do so safely, obtain the license plate number, make and model.

We would also like to remind you (from last year) of a known method burglars use to determine if the homeowners were away for an extended period of time. Thieves place markers at strategic locations to verify if the home was empty. As seen in these photos, the thieves placed twigs in tire rims and lodged in doorways. If you see anything similar, please notify the police.

Your vigilance can make all the difference!

Lastly, with the warm weather just around the corner, we like to remind you to be mindful of your vehicle speed. In addition, you should expect to see an increase in door-to-door solicitors and service vehicles in the area.

Police strongly recommend reporting any suspicious activity immediately!
